Here He/She Is!

Today was the sequential screen. As I explained before, there are three components to the test. The first part is the ultrasound. This measures a line of fluid behind the baby's neck. If it's a thin line, that's a sign that Down's may not be present. If it's a thick line, Down's may be present. Our baby has a nice healthy thin line....which doesn't necessarily mean we're out of the woods, but it's a step in the right direction. The second part is a blood test. They took blood today and they will monitor the hormone levels in my blood. If they are all whacky, that is an indication of a chromosomal issue, and therefore something to worry about. Those results will be available next Tuesday. And the third part of the test is another blood test which will be administered at the end of May. So, so far, so good. As you can see from the pictures above, the ultrasound tech put the 3D wand on my belly because our little stinker wasn't behaving, so he was killing time waiting for the baby to face away from the ultrasound wand. Hmmmmm, this little one doesn't seem very camera shy....I wonder where that came from????
