So as you all know, this entire pregnancy has been a bevy of new feelings, sensations, sounds and smells. Last night as I was lying awake in bed AGAIN (for the fourth night in a row) I put my hand on my belly and it felt like a ROCK! It was totally hard. As soon as I moved positions, it softened again. I've noticed this a few times in the past week or two and now I'm sure what it is...Braxton-Hicks contractions. These are completely normal and are usually felt after about 20 weeks (I'm at the end of 28). It's basically the uterus practicing for labor. Mine have been completely painless, and usually I don't even know they are happening unless I happen to touch my hardening belly at the time of one. I have my 28 week doctor visit this morning, so of course I'll mention all of this to him, but I'm sure it's totally o.k. and normal that this is happening.
Today is the last monthly appointment I'll have. After today, I will start visiting the doctor every two weeks until the last month...when I'll go every week. Now that I'm in my third trimester, I'm sure the rest of the pregnancy will go by very quickly. We can't wait!

My BH contractions started at about week 24 and wow, they became really big conratctions by the end. I think I was actually in labor for about 6 weeks.
They're a good time to practice breathing and relaxing methods.
